In the Direction of your Goals

I don’t know about you but I have never found it easy to achieve what I set for myself as goals. Along the way, the following kinds of things happen:

Forget it – what seemed like a worthwhile goal last week suddenly doesn’t seem that important anymore – probably because the motivation was temporary

I can’t do it – this is usually the “gee this is tougher than I thought” thought

I’ll do this some other time – you know you need to change but habit kicks in as the usual fallback savior

On Setting Goals

In fact, entire training sessions lasting for days revolve around how to make SMART objectives. Gee whiz! Now that we are all familiar with the acronym, it would seem we can all go ahead and set goals more effectively. But the reality as we have all experienced is very different. In one of his famous books called the Ultimate Sales Machine, author/entrepreneur/salesman Chet Holmes uses a quote (no one knows who said this originally)

“Maturity is when all of your mirrors turn into windows”.
