BA (Hons) Business Management

Overview

The BA (Hons) Business Management is a 3-years degree programme that you can study right here at the MDi campus in Islamabad. The degree is awarded by Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) Malaysia and provides students with an understanding of management activities and business strategies employed in a range of organizations. Students will learn key employment skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, written and oral communication, e-Business, IT in business, and research methods.

Students can complete the entire BA (Hons) in Business Management degree at MDi Islamabad or part of the degree here and the remaining with credit transfers to the on-campus program at APU in Malaysia or transfer to any one of 20+ universities in UK, Australia, New Zealand, USA, France and Ireland that recognize the APU qualifications.

YEAR 1

Students will gain basic understanding of the context within which businesses operate – Management, Law, Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship and Marketing. They will also gain exposure to business & communication skills, computing & IT skills, quantitative skills, and independent learning.

YEAR 2

Students will be exposed to more advanced level of curriculum including behavioral science, business ethics & governance, critical thinking in management, and international culture & communications. In-depth understanding in functional management in various areas will be developed as well. They will gain further understanding of core business processes through the industry-leading software supported by SAP. We will further nurture their independent learning to prepare them for the workplace and for further research.

INTERNSHIP / PROJECT

Students will undertake an Internship or practical project to prepare them for a smooth transition from the classroom to the working environment.

YEAR 3

Students will make use of their previous studies and industrial experience to extend their familiarity in tackling more practical and modern issues of business management. Leadership and strategic management skills will be taught, with aims to groom them as a business leader. A final year project requires them to explore a topic individually – they will demonstrate their academic and practical aspects of their ability in the chosen area of study.

A-Level Students:

2 A Level passes including pass in English and Math at O-Level

Inter Students:

Minimum 55% grade including pass in English and Math at 10th grade

Pearson HND Level 5:

Pass grades in all subjects. HND students can apply for some exemptions. 

English language proficiency as evidenced from previous studies. 

MDi Business School staff will assist you to submit your application.  You will need to provide the following documentation:

  • Copy of CNIC or passport
  • Copy of A-Level, Inter, or equivalent certificates and transcripts. This must include reference to all subjects taken, marks/grades obtained, and the date of the final award.
  • School/college reference letter

All applicants are required to pay a one-time application fee payable directly to MDi at the time of application submission.

Asia Pacific University BA (Hons) in Business Management assessment is based on both coursework and final exams.  Final grading is done directly by Asia Pacific University. 

Exams will be conducted at MDi Business School by external invigilators.

Classes and Study Materials

This is a regular daytime programme with classes scheduled from Monday to Friday between 10 am to 2 pm.

The international degree programs at MDi are renowned for quality of the syllabus, quality of instruction by faculty with both academic credentials and industry experience and the attention given to individual students. The overall delivery method includes a combination of classes and support from local MDi tutors.

Students also have access to online text and study materials including study guides, past papers, discussion forums, presentations, videos and a library of international journals and e-books. Students also have free access to the MDi physical library for referencing or borrowing textbooks.

Degree Award

The BA (Hons) in Business Management degrees awarded to the graduates at MDi Pakistan are exactly the same as the on-campus degrees in Malaysia. There is no reference on the degree to location or mode of study. In fact, one of the conditions for approval by HEC Pakistan in granting recognition to these programs is that the degrees should be identical to the on-campus version.

In addition, graduates can receive the degree in Pakistan or visit the convocation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dual Degree Option

Students can complete the entire APU Malaysia degree at MDi Islamabad or part of the degree here and the remaining with full credit transfers to the on-campus program. Students who choose to study the final third year of the programme on-campus in Kuala Lumpur become entitled to a Dual Degree option with a second degree from De Montfort University, UK.

Students do not need to take any extra courses. There is a charge of UK Pounds £375 and students are registered in De Montfort University’s system and will be issued transcripts by De Montfort University alongside that issued by APU Malaysia upon successful completion of the programme.

Local/International Recognition and Accreditation

All international degree programs offered at MDi Business School have been formally validated and recognized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) and listed on the HEC website here.

Credit Transfers and Exemptions

The BA (Hons) in Business Management programme at MDi enjoys credit transfers to on-campus programs either at Asia Pacific University’s on-campus program in Malaysia or other universities around the world. . You may complete a few courses at MDi here in Pakistan and the remaining on-campus in Malaysia, UK, Australia, USA, France, New Zealand, Ireland, etc. International universities that recognize and accept APU Malaysia qualifications include:

Hostel Facilities

Students from cities other than Islamabad and Rawalpindi seeking hostel facilities will be pleased to know that Hostel City, Islamabad’s largest hostel center, is just a 20 minutes drive away from the MDi Campus in Islamabad.

Hostel City has separate hostel buildings for both male and female students with facilities for food and pick and drop arrangements.
